Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 June 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating a Settled account or using any part of our platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using Settled on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business to these terms.
2. The service
Settled helps freelancers and small businesses recover unpaid invoices by parsing invoice PDFs, scheduling reminder emails to your clients, and pausing automation when a client replies or pays. We do not collect payments on your behalf โ we are a communication and workflow tool only.
3. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for (a) the accuracy of the invoice data you upload, (b) ensuring you have a lawful basis to contact the client email addresses you provide, and (c) the content of any reminder messages we send on your behalf. You must not use Settled to harass, defame, or unlawfully pressure any recipient.
4. Fair-use & sending limits
To protect deliverability and recipients, we apply reasonable sending limits and may temporarily pause automation that triggers excessive bounces, spam complaints, or opt-out requests. We may suspend accounts that repeatedly violate these limits.
5. Fees
During preview, Settled is provided free of charge. Pricing for paid plans will be communicated at least 30 days before any charge.
6. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, including for abuse, fraud, or non-payment. On termination, your data is deleted within 30 days unless we are required to retain it by law.
7. Disclaimer & liability
Settled is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Cape Town, unless another venue is required by applicable consumer-protection law.
